According to the USDA's Forest Research Laboratories, "Ipe is a common term that encompasses many different species of extremely hard woods. There is no final say or studies establishing which woods or species these might be". We at New Horizons would like to warn the buyer that before purchasing woods marketed under the Ipe name, the botanical names of the purchase should be received from the seller. We suggest personal research be performed by the buyer if possible. If you would like to research a specific species of wood you can do so on the USDA's website at Center for Wood Anatomy Research at the following web address. www2.fpl.fs.fed.us/ |
